Logging in to CV

CVCommunity Viewer authenticates all providers against a registered list, provisioned by VAU.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Staff. If you have not received credentials to access CV, request access through the Community Provider Technical Service Desk or by clicking the New User Request link on the Login page. You must also have an active status. You cannot log in to CV if your status is inactive or hold. Contact the Community Provider Technical Service Desk if you receive an error related to your status.

NOTE:  A Reset Password option is also available from the Login page.

  1. Open a supported Internet browser
  2. Enter the CV URLUniform Resource Locator, https://www.communityviewer.va.gov/Community, in the address bar of the Internet browser
  3. Review the Authorized Use message
  4. Click OK to confirm that you are aware you are accessing a Government information system that is provided for authorized users only
  5. Enter your username and password, provided by VA Staff, in the fields on the Login page:

    NOTE:  If your username is not found or is not active, no further options appear and an error message displays: “There is an issue preventing your access to Community Viewer. Please contact your VA Contractor or your VA Medical Center for assistance.

    1. Your username is the NPINational Provider Identifier number associated with your account
    2. If you have forgotten your password, click the Reset Password link
    3. If you are not already an authorized user, click on the New User Request link for guidance on obtaining access to CV
  6. Click Login

    NOTE:  As a CCPCommunity Care Provider, you are required to complete VA privacy and security awareness training to gain access to CV. The VA Privacy and Security Awareness Training page appears the first time you access the CV application, and again every 365 days after the first successful log in since training certification must be renewed each year. After you attempt to log in for the first time, or if your training certificates have expired, you are prompted to download and review the necessary training documents. After you complete the training, your certificates are valid for 12 months. You are required to perform all acknowledgement tasks before access to CV is granted.

    1. If you are logging in to the CV web application for the first time (or 365 days after your first login), the VA Privacy and Security Awareness Training page appears
  7. Complete ALL the acknowledgment tasks to gain access to CV:
    1. Download and read the Information Security Awareness Training PDFPortable Document Format document
    2. Download and read the Electronic Health Records Rules and Behavior PDF document
    3. Click the checkbox to certify that you have completed and understand the Information Security Awareness training
    4. Click the checkbox to certify that you have read and understand the Electronic Health Records Rules and Behavior
    5. Click the checkbox to certify that you have completed and understand the HIPAAHealth Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Privacy training through your organization
    6. Click I Confirm to proceed to the application
